COMET Group: Forward-looking acquisition in the RF generator business

On August 17 2011, in a move consistent with its forward strategy for system components for vacuum capacitors, the COMET Group signed an agreement to purchase German-based Stolberg HF-Technik AG, for EUR 5.3 million.

Stolberg specializes in the development and manufacture of RF and VHF generators. The company has 25 employees, 10 of which are highly-qualified engineers with extensive know-how and a long track record in RF and VHF technology. COMET is therefore fully equipped to develop entire RF power supply systems featuring fully compatible components, all from a single source, and to rapidly conquer this new market.

“The acquisition of Stolberg is a significant step towards strengthening our market position in the RF power supply business, and an important strategic fit for the existing module business,” says Michael Kammerer, Head of Vacuum Capacitors.

To reflect its product focus on end-to-end power supply systems for controlling plasma processes, the Vacuum Capacitors business unit has been renamed Plasma Control Technologies.
