COMET Group expands Executive Committee
The COMET Group is expanding the Executive Committee with the addition of the post of Chief Operating Officer, who will be responsible for the global supply chain of the Group. Thomas Polzer will take up the new role no later than September 1, 2016.
The strong planned growth in the coming years will significantly increase the importance of the supply chain for the COMET Group. With its specific solutions, the company is positioning itself as a key supplier to an increasing number of major customers, which increases their expectations of a high degree of reliability and constantly improving operational excellence. To manage this challenge, the supply chain of the individual segments – from procurement and production to logistics – is to be brought together under an experienced manager at Executive Committee level. This will help COMET Group develop its supply chain into a key pillar in the implementation of its 2020 strategy, to strengthen client retention and further improve operational excellence.
Thomas Polzer will take up the new role as Chief Operating Officer no later than September 1, 2016. Thomas Polzer (50) has been CEO of Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH, a subsidiary of Carl Zeiss AG, an international technology group in the optics and optoelectronics industries, since 2008. In his earlier positions for Carl Zeiss and for Dutch company ASML at locations in Germany, the USA and the Netherlands, Thomas Polzer gained many years of experience relating to the supply chain and production and technology development in an international environment. In addition to a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Duale Hochschule Baden Württemberg, he also has an MBA in Corporate Management from the University of Augsburg.
