COMET reinforces cost-cutting measures in VacCap
The COMET Group, worldwide leaders in the manufacture of components and systems for the growth markets of non-destructive testing, security and semiconductors, is introducing short-time working and making staff adjustments in response to the aggravating decline in demand from the semiconductor and solar industries.
The aggravating decline in demand in the semiconductor and solar industry markets requires COMET to make further cost cuts in Vacuum Capacitors. In addition to expanding short-time working in this unit to all functions, 24 jobs worldwide are now planned to be shed, 23 of them at the Flamatt location. Although the COMET Group has been forced to take these measures to adjust to the changing market realities, this does not call into question the forward strategy in the area of RF modules.
Despite the deteriorating economic situation since the fourth quarter of 2008, the COMET Group is continuing to assume that it will be able to confirm the expected results for the year 2008 that was previously communicated. The balance-sheet press conference will take place in Zurich on April 2, 2009.
