Hans Hess

Hans Hess has been president of Swiss-based Hanesco AG, International Management Consulting, since 2006. From 1996 until 2005, he was CEO of Leica Geosystems AG, Switzerland. Earlier in his career, he worked for over five years with Huber & Suhner AG, Switzerland, as head of its PUR business unit. From 1981 until 1983 he was a development engineer with Sulzer AG, Switzerland. Hans Hess also holds the following board positions in Swiss companies: vice chairman of the board of Burckhardt Compression Holding AG, board member of Geberit AG and member and internal representative of the board of directors of Schaffner Holding AG. Hans Hess holds a Ph.D. h.c. from Ferris State University, Michigan, and a Prof. h.c. from the University of Wuhan, China. He graduated in 1981 with a materials science degree from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH).

Lucas A. Grolimund

From 2007 to 2009 Lucas Grolimund was CEO of Cicor Technologies AG in Boudry. For the previous 4 years, he was CEO of Schlatter Holding AG where he successfully managed the turnaround of the listed Swiss welding machine manufacturer. From 2000 to 2003 he was CFO of the Gate Gourmet Group and from 1995 to 2000 he worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company in Switzerland. Lucas Grolimund holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), a masters degree from Stanford University, California, and an MBA from INSEAD, France.

Rolf Huber

Rolf Huber has been an independent entrepreneur and partner in Ceres Capital AG since 2001. In the course of this activity, Rolf Huber has worked in a number of interim roles at various companies, including CEO of Teleplan International N.V. From 1998 to 2001, he was CFO of the Hero Group and finance director of Hero AG Switzerland. He was a member of the executive committee of Coop Switzerland from 1997 to 1998 and a consultant with McKinsey & Company, Switzerland, from 1993 to 1997. Rolf Huber holds a degree in agronomy from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

Gian-Luca Bona

Born in 1957; Swiss citizen; Dr. sc. nat. ETH Zurich

Since 2009 Dr. Bona has been CEO of Empa, the Swiss federal research institution based in Dübendorf, St. Gallen and Thun. From 1988 to 2009, Dr. Bona worked at IBM in a number of capacities. From 1998 he was head of the photonics section at IBM’s Zurich research laboratory in Rüschlikon. In 2004 he became functional manager of various research departments at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California, and from 2008 to 2009 he was director of IBM Tape Storage Solutions, Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Bona received a physics degree from ETH Zurich (the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in 1983, followed in 1987 by a Ph.D. in physics. In 2009 he was appointed professor at ETH Zurich and EPF Lausanne.

Mariel Hoch

Mariel Hoch graduated from the University of Zurich as a Dr. iur. in 2003 and was called to the bar in 2005. She is a Partner in the law firm Bär & Karrer AG in Zurich. Since the very start of her professional career, she has dealt with issues of business law and now primarily advises listed companies on almost all matters ranging from M&A transactions to stock exchange and company law. The COMET Group will able to draw on Dr. Hoch's knowledge and experience of legal matters. At Bär & Karrer, she is also involved in personnel management and will also be able to put her expertise in this area at the service of the Compensation Committee of COMET Holding AG.

Franz Richter

Born in 1955; German national; Dr. Ing.

Following scientific posts with the Carl Zeiss Group and the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology, he spent 14 years working for the German company Süss Microtec, the last six of them as its CEO. After serving as President of Semiconductor Equipment at Unaxis (now OC Oerlikon) in Switzerland, he set up Thin Materials GmbH in Germany and became its CEO. Among his other current commitments, he sits on the board of directors of the Swiss Meyer Burger Technology AG in Thun. Dr. Richter's career has taken him to various countries, where he has specialized in technology management issues, especially in the semiconductor industry, where he is considered as being a leading expert.
